10 DAYS / 09 NIGHTS | FROM SAN PEDRO SULA OR TEGUCIGALPA
A diverse sample of Honduras highlights, including old mining towns, cities with beautiful colonial buildings, living cultures, natural parks and the magnificent Maya Ruins of Copán declared UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day 01: Arrival – San Pedro Sula. Meet and greet at the International Airport of San Pedro Sula and transfer to your hotel. Overnight at the Gran Hotel Sula or similar. • Meals included: None.
Day 02: San Pedro Sula – Los Naranjos – Tegucigalpa – Valle de Angeles – Santa Lucía. After having breakfast, transfer to Tegucigalpa visiting Los Naranjos Archaeological Site at the Yojoa Lake. In the afternoon, you will visit the Valle de Angeles and Santa Lucia. Overnight at the Hotel Honduras Maya or similar. • Meals included: Breakfast and lunch.
Day 03: Tegucigalpa – Comayagua – La Esperanza. Breakfast at your hotel and transfer to the colonial town of Comayagua, which is located only 37 km North of Tegucigalpa on the main highway to San Pedro Sula. Among the monuments that you will visit in this town are: the Cathedral, the Church of Las Mercedes and the Museum of Comayagua that offers a variety of artifacts dating from the colonial time. This city was the Capital of the country from 1542 until 1888. In the afternoon, transfer to a town called La Esperanza. Overnight at the Hotel Casa del Arrollo. • Meals included: Breakfast and lunch.
Day 04: La Esperanza. After breakfast, you will have the whole day to explore La Esperanza. La Esperanza is located about 1,600 meters over the sea level. Due to this altitude the climate is very cool, thus making it the ideal place for growing vegetables and fruits. La Esperanza is one of the few places in Honduras where the culture of the Lencas is still alive. You will have time enough to get to know their way of living and to observe how they produce their typical clothes. Today, you will visit la Casa de la Cultura and a beautiful Bosque Enano (forest with small trees). Overnight at the Hotel Casa del Arrollo. • Meals included: Breakfast and lunch.
Day 05: La Esperanza – Gracias – Santa Rosa de Copán. After breakfast you will leave La Esperanza towards Gracias. Gracias was founded in 1536 and its colonial architecture and charm converts it into a very special place. Gracias was declared seat of the Audiencia de los Confines in April 1544, thus converting it into the capital of Central America and Honduras during this period of time. You will visit its colonial churches and afterwards you will have lunch in a restaurant called Guancascos from where you will have a splendid view of the town. In the afternoon, transfer to Santa Rosa de Copán where you will visit its church. Overnight at the Hotel Elvir. • Meals included: Breakfast and lunch.
